Last June John was very pleased to do an evening at the GRAMMY Museum in Los Angeles — an onstage interview and brief performance. Recently the Museum posted some video from that interview: John discussing the influence that Townes Van Zandt had on his songwriting, as well as a clip from “High Road.” You can watch this video on the GRAMMY Museum website right here, as well as more here.

He was the guy [who] made me go … ‘I want to write songs,'” said Fullbright regarding Van Zandt. “I never got into [Ernest] Hemingway. … But I got into Townes. Townes was my Hemingway. He was my young man’s idol.”
